4 frocks, 4 eras

It's no secret that we love a bit of retro here at frocked up, and we aim to have wearable frocks inspired by a range of eras. Here are a few of our favourites from the Festive Sale!

1930s

The Frances Drape Dress (and yes, we do think Frances Drake everytime we see it!) is full of fabulous 30s-inspired draping.

1940s

The Pixie in Pixel by Ruby Belle has a 40s tea dress feel to it, but with a decidedly modern pattern. Peekaboo shoulder cut outs add to this frock's sense of fun

1950s

The Lottie by Darling has a fabulous 50s-inspired full skirt, it would look fabulous with a little pair of gloves!
1960s

This hot pink frock by Daisy May wouldn't look out of place on any 60s chanteuse!

Festive frocked up on the road

We're making a big effort to get out and about with the frocks - taking the prettiness to the people!

Christmas is the perfect excuse to go out and spread some frocky cheer, and as this is frocked up's first Christmas, we thought we'd celebrate in style!

First it was off to the Ramada Cannock Christmas fayre, raising money for Children in Need, a great cause and lots of lovely stallholders. This was also the first outing for the Bombshell dresses, Gertrude (don't call her a dummy, she's very sensitive) modeled a red silk version and got lots of compliments - here's a pic of her!

Then it was off to Shugborough Hall for their Candleit Christmas Evenings. It was quite literally like stepping into a Christmas card, snow lay all about, deep and crisp and even!

There were hot mulled wine, hog baps, roast chestnuts and carollers a plenty all dressed in Victorian costume. frocked up had teamed up with the fabulous Loopy Ladies for this event, so we set up our stand in the marquee that became our home for the 4 days. We took along a rail of our finest party frocks, whilst Loopy Ladies showed off their lovely handbags, jewellery and accessories.

Unfortunately the levels of snow meant that quite a few people weren't able to come out and see us, but we were still able to hand out lots of our swanky new postcards and spread the frocked up word a little more!

NTS - now in at frocked up

Another fabulous range of dresses now in stock at frocked up.

NTS stands for Not the Same, and when you see these frocks we think you'll know why!

We love something a bit different at frocked up, and these dresses are certainly a little odd, from a tie dye punk princess party frock, to a tapestry waistcoat shift, to a military style dress with an abstract city scap printed round the hem!

The key thing we loved about these frocks when we first saw them (which is a long time ago now, in fact, these are some of the first dresses that were ever ordered for frocked up, such is the madness of the fashion calendar!) was the sheer amount of detail that goes into them. We also always like to accommodate curves where we can so it's great that most styles go up to an 18. Click on the picture above or here to see the full range.

We are aware that we at frocked up have perhaps made it difficult for you this year, what with having so very many pretty dresses for you to choose from.

Never fear, help is at hand as Emily Jayne (our head frocker, who just so happens to also be an Image Consultant/Stylist) shows you how to pick the perfect party frock for your body shape.

Bombshell by Katya Wildman - Now at frocked up

Oooh, we've had these little beauties on order since the beginning of this year, and it's been tough work to keep quiet about them!
When TV costume designer Katya Wildman struggled to find a dress to flatter her curves, she came up with an innovative solution - design her own! This is definitely a story that we at frocked up can empathise with, as the whole reason behind our lovely boutique was the constant struggle to find feminine dresses built for real women - women who want to feel like a knock out every time they walk out the front door, and want to be wearing a frock that's just that bit different!
Well, having met Katya, we can confirm that she is definitely a real knock out, and that's just how head frocker Emily felt when she wore her frocked up Pink Silk bombshell to the Birmingham Business Awards dinner this last Friday Night: "I don't think I've ever had so many compliments on how I looked in one night, and in the pink silk number I certainly stood out from the crowd." So many women told Emily that they wished they were brave enough to wear a dress like that rather than their own same-old-same-old LBDs.
Well the answer to this dilemma is simple, ladies, as there really is no bravery required for a Bombshell. As soon as you put this lovely on you will feel yourself transported to a world of Mad Men style retro-sexy-decadence!
So why is this frock so special? Well, the clever cross-over, faux-wrap design means that the neckline can be adjusted from sultry decollate to VA VA VOOM in 2 seconds, depending on how you feel; the clever rouching over the tummy area means that any lumps and bumps are rendered invisible, and the just-below the knee design is balanced by a dare-to-bare split up the side of the skirt that reveals just enough leg upon sitting down.
How does that sound to you? Pretty good, eh? So clicky here to see the full range of Bombshell dresses at frocked up, including our EXCLUSIVE flamingo pink silk version!

Timeless glamour with Daisy May party frocks

ANOTHER amazing new range is now in stock at frocked up. We're so pleased to have a beautifully glam range of party frocks by Irish lable Daisy May. As soon as we saw these we just knew that they were everything that frocked up stands for - a little bit retro, a little bit different, and a whole lot feminine.

The range caters for different shapes and sizes - if you like Jackie 'O' style A lines there are some fab boxy shifts with beading and embellishment, or if you are more of a Marylin curvy girlie try some of the chiffon frocks - there's a silver and baby pink number with a deep v neck and back (but not so deep that you can't wear a bra - phew!) with your name on it!

To whet your appetite, feast your eyes on these then click here to see the full range!

More Goodies! Amari Dresses now in Stock

As soon as we saw the fab Cornish label Amari, we at frocked up fell in love.

Designed by Amelia and Hari in Cornwall, and then manufactured in Kathmandu, Nepal to take advantage of the wonderful vibrant colours and textiles available there, Amari is a really individual label and individual is something we love at frocked up!

The frocks have a fabulous, slightly 70s, retro feel to them and are perfect for layering up this winter. Lots of them are very adaptable and could easily be dressed up or down - the lace numbers especially.
Also, even more exciting are the prices - most of these frocks are between £32 and £40!
Anyhoo, feast your eyes on these!

Another beauty from Fever Designs, the Damselle Bias Dress, which we think that if you had some foresight would see you through to autumn if you paired it with some opaque tights or stockings, and a Flamigo-printed joy of a sundress from Ruby Belle.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAND WE'RE LIVE!

It's time to get frocked up everyone!

The frocked up website, http://www.frockedup.co.uk/ is open for business, with some fabulous frocks from Fransa, Darling and Fever Designs London to start us off!

Maira Dress by Darling - £55.00

The idea of frocked up sprung from my own desire to wear dresses that were that little bit different, to be able to walk into a bar or restaurant and know that you weren't going to be wearing the same high street frock that half the other ladies are wearing. I also find it difficult, even in these times of ultra-feminine fashion to find frocks that are beautiful, but practical for me - I'm a curvy girl so straps wide enough to accommodate a bra are a must, and I like a skirt that reaches well past my derierre thank you very much! I know from my work as an image consultant (http://www.emily-jayne.com/) that women of all shapes and sizes also struggle, so it's myu aim for frocked up to provide ultra feminine, oddball, and retro dressses for all!

Cezanne Side Lace Dress by Fever - £74.99

If there is anything you'd like to see on frocked up let me know, any brands or independent designers you'd like to see then I shall do my best to accommodate them! Your feeback is vital to the success of frocked up.

So, as a little celebration, I'm happy to announce FREE SHIPPING TO ALL UK ORDERS this week! YAY! FROCKS ALL ROUND!
